Wild Mei

红莓是一个喜欢舞鞭、爱唱经典民歌的00后跨性别女性。她认为自己很像古代的女巫，因为自己的“身份”放弃主流生活在街头摆摊占卜。但同时也因为“身份”，她获得了一些不一样的，更为重要的东西。 

Mei is a post-00s transgender woman who loves revolutionary songs and whip dancing. She sees herself as an ancient witch, who because of her “identity” has to give up her mainstream life to work on the streets as a fortune-teller. But at the same time, because of her “identity”, she has gained something different, something more important.

Fang Ye, a film directing major with a passion for cinema, stumbled into documentary filmmaking—by chance, or perhaps by destiny. 

真正认识红莓是从拍摄这部短片开始的。在我们共同度过的时间里，我听她讲述自己的故事，观察她的生活，也感受着她在不同时刻传递出的能量。拍摄前并没有任何计划，也不知道最终呈现的效果，我们就这样只是过着每一天，记录、聊天、陪伴。记录一个可爱的人，发现她与世界的微小联结，这本身就能成为我们存在的理由。 

I truly got to know Hong Mei through making this short film. In the time we spent together, I listened to her stories, observed her life, and felt the energy she carried in different moments. There was no plan before filming, no certainty of how it would turn out—we simply lived each day, recording, talking, and keeping each other company. To document a lovely person, to discover her subtle connections with the world—that alone could be reason enough for us to exist.
