Where Should We Go

Between her and her, the unresolved questions send them on a quest for solutions. But they have no idea where they are going. One keeps asking; the other never has an answer. Is it here, or over there? Just like on the path of life, you can never know where you will be the next moment. And they have each other to face the fear and anxiety that comes with the unknown. They will find the answer in the end – this journey, this life, perhaps it is all just a dream. This dream only takes place in one instant – this moment.

Director’s Statement

Over the past few years, I have been consistently experimenting with the fusion of theater and film. This time, I want to make a film using the improvisational methods in theater. On a stage set in real-life environments, the actors are free to feel and express themselves. There are only scenes and characters – no script or lines prepared in advance. The narrative is constructed in post-production with massive footage collected through film editing, exploring the boundaries between fiction and reality, intimacy and emotion, performance and life, as well as the philosophy of life. The entire team consists of merely four people: my partner and I as cinematographers, documenting the reality of the two actors both in front of and “behind” the camera. The shooting process for everyone involved is both a journey and an exploration of mutual trust. Each person creates and expresses their own genuine feeling in every frame of the “present moment.”
