IUS of Time

在宁静的西班牙阿斯图里亚斯小村庄，一位年轻摄影师卢卡怀着寻找灵感和探寻根源的心情而来，寄宿在隐居的奶酪匠人瑄安的家中。瑄安因往昔流言蜚语而被村民疏远，独自生活在自我隔离的世界里。 

起初，两人之间存在戒备和隔阂，但随着日复一日的相处，这些情绪逐渐消融。卢卡的镜头聚焦于瑄安的日常生活，而瑄安也在年轻人的陪伴中重新找回对生活的渴望。 

瑄安的旧伤和卢卡的漂泊岁月使他们的关系面临考验。在这两个不同世界的交汇中，他们逐渐走近彼此。 

Luca, a young photographer, arrives in an Asturian village to develop one of his artistic projects and explore his own roots. He stays at the home of Xuan, a veteran cheesemaker who rents part of his house to supplement the meager income from his artisanal work. 

Luca is met with Xuan’s innate brusqueness, a facade that the young man soon discovers is tied to a past shadowed by old rumors and prejudices. As Luca’s camera captures the intricate details of Xuan’s hands at work—sculpting cheese with a craftsman’s care—he awakens in Xuan a passion for life long thought lost, prompting the older man to reflect on cherished memories and connections. 

Through shared gazes and unspoken histories, they find unexpected connections in lives that initially seemed worlds apart. As their bond deepens, they encounter the delicate interplay of life and death, illuminating the invisible threads that unite us all.

西班牙导演罗伯托·卡努图与中国导演徐小溪在洛杉矶攻读电影硕士时相识，自此开始合作创作，作品跨越西班牙、中国与美国。他们关注文化根源、身份多样性与LGBTIQ+叙事，以诗意且真挚的影像语言和严谨的镜头与叙事手法呈现深刻情感与思考。 

短片《沉李》（2017）曾在全球50多个国家展映，斩获30余项国际奖项，并入选伦敦雨舞电影节、洛杉矶Outfest等重要影展，曾同时亮相上海骄傲电影节、香港同志电影节及北京爱酷电影周。其他作品包括《浮果》（2015）、《等候》（2016）、《逆境》（2013）及《棉花云下的水圈》（2023），以细腻视觉与真切主题赢得国际影展认可。 

最新作品《时间的审判》（2025）已入选多个国际重要影展，包括具有奥斯卡认证资格的第53届韦斯卡国际电影节，以及第43届芝加哥Reeling、第27届迈阿密Outshine与第31届巴黎Chéries-Chéris酷儿电影节。影片聚焦跨世代酷儿纽带，在东西方文化与个人叙事之间建立深情共鸣，同时展现导演独到的影像视角。 

目前两人定居西班牙，正在准备长片电影项目。

Spanish director Roberto F. Canuto and Chinese director Xu Xiaoxi began collaborating while pursuing an MFA in Los Angeles, blending distinct cultural perspectives into a filmmaking career spanning the USA, China, and Spain. Their work explores cultural roots, identity, and LGBTIQ+ narratives through a global, artistic lens, earning recognition at international film festivals. 

Their short film Sunken Plum (Chen Li, 2017) premiered in over 50 countries, winning more than 30 awards. It was selected for major festivals including the 26th Raindance Film Festival (London) and the 36th Outfest Los Angeles, and also screened at the Shanghai Pride Film Festival, Hong Kong Queer Film Festival, and Beijing Love Queer Film Festival. 

Other notable shorts include Floating Melon (2015), Advent (2016), Ni Jing (2013), and Water Circles under Cotton Clouds (2023). 

Their latest work, IUS of Time (2025), has been featured at prestigious festivals, including the Oscar-qualifying 53rd Huesca International Film Festival, the 43rd Reeling Chicago, the 27th Outshine Miami, and the 31st Chéries-Chéris (France). 

They are preparing feature film projects. 

《时间的审判》是一部具有诗意的短片，讲述跨世代同性之爱的故事。影片以西班牙北部阿斯图里亚斯偏远山村为背景，年轻摄影师卢卡与年长奶酪匠人瑄安的短暂相遇，呈现跨世代的联系。 

影片关注不同年代的同性关系，展现他们在社会偏见与个人困境中的真实情感。乡村的自然风景映照爱情的纯粹与坚韧，而卢卡的摄影与瑄安的手艺成为情感交流的桥梁，展现爱情如何超越外界眼光与世俗限制。 

片尾黑白照片向历史上的同性伴侣致敬，他们的影像记录了勇气与坚持，也呼应对平等与包容的关注。影片在现实与想象间流转，引导观众思考时间、记忆与爱的延续。 

《时间的审判》保持开放性解读：它可以是一段短暂的记忆、一场不可能的相遇，或对往昔创伤的回望。通过真实而细腻的叙事，影片让观众感受到爱情在困境中的力量，以及生命中那份温柔而坚韧的情感。 

IUS of Time is a poetic drama that weaves evocative imagery to honor the resilient love of past LGBT couples, their stories echoing through time, contrasting with modern app-based relationships. Set in a remote mountain village in northern Spain, the fleeting encounter between young photographer Luca and elder cheesemaker Xuan unveils an intergenerational bond, bridging urban artistry with rural tradition in a suggestive fusion of contrasting worlds. 

We crafted this film to capture the wonder and strangeness of two souls from different generations, their lives intertwined by shared struggles and unspoken desires. The rural setting, steeped in Asturias’ rugged beauty, mirrors the raw, authentic emotions of same-sex love often silenced in small communities. Through Luca’s lens and Xuan’s craft, we explore how love defies societal whispers, drawing strength from its purity and truth. 

The film’s closing black-and-white photographs pay tribute to historical same-sex couples, their silent images testifying to courage against intolerance. This homage celebrates their resistance and inspires new generations to pursue justice and inclusion. IUS of Time blends the tangible with the imagined, inviting viewers to reflect on time as a fluid space where joy, pain, and hope coexist. 

Our aim was to create a story open to interpretation: a fleeting memory, an impossible meeting, or a reconstruction of scarred emotions. We hope its poetic resonance and tender exploration of love’s enduring power leave a lasting impression, celebrating resilience in the face of adversity.
