故事梗概 Synopsis

在Real Events, Real Fantasy中,表演者们解构并重新演绎了几段对话:它们看似再日常不过,但性别主义与刻板印象的影子在其中若隐若现。来自不同国家的表演者在不同的情境中直面彼此,试图教对方用自己的母语说一些简单的内容。他们从音节开始,一遍又一遍地练习每一个单词,直到句子变得连贯。在男性表演者之中,可以观察到一丝危险的欲望;而女性表演者们更倾向于以一种保护性的方式和彼此互动。这似乎是不同性别之间的普世相处法则,但它背后蕴含的不安却无法被忽视。

By breaking down a chit-chat with a sexist undertone, RealEvents, Real Fantasy re-stages and highlights different modes of speaking. The performers learn and teach how to say simple things in different languages. They rehearse the pronunciation of the phrases, words and sounds. While between men flow beauty and desire, between women flow alliance and protection. Being normative, instability of this pattern also lurks around the corner.

导演介绍 Director’s Biography

刘茹心出生于中国,目前在德国汉堡学习和生活,目前在汉堡艺术学院(HFBK)就读。Ta从小开始绘画,通过Joan Jonas了解视频艺术后,ta被这一媒介解构视觉和听觉的可能性深深吸引。从那之后ta就开始进行影像创作。通过影像,ta对日常生活中熟悉事物的自洽性提出质疑。ta的作品探讨身份的表演性,进而反思我们如何在新自由主义父权社会中构建欲望和快乐。

Grew up in China, Ruxin Liu studies in Hamburg, and lives in Berlin, Germany—currently a graduate student with Professor Rajkamal Kahlon at HFBK. Starting with drawing as a child, they got fascinated by the video art of Joan Jonas in its ability to take apart the seeing and hearing, and they started working with moving images ever since. Using the strategy of substituting the familiar, their works deal with the performativity of identity, particularly on constructing desires and pleasure in our neoliberal patriarchal world.

导演阐述 Director’s Statement

异性恋正统主义渗透在生活中的每个细小的时刻。它给无数瞬间赋予意义,并驱动着我们与他人的社会互动。

身处异乡时,教其他人用自己的母语说一些简单的话是一种迅速拥有共同话题的方法。在大多数情况下,这种教学的起点都是教对方如何搭讪。可是在这种教学过程中,我们似乎只是在进行一种对于真实世界的演练;话语自身的意义被悬置不顾。

在拍摄的过程中,我作为导演,时常介入表演者之间。对于男性表演者来说,这种为了未来潜在的搭讪场景进行的演练本身十分自然;但在我的介入下,他们开始感到别扭、不适。而女性表演者们可以在一起会心一笑。在这种有意识影响下,本身无意义的对话练习产生了更多可能性。

Heteronormativity permeates every small moment in life. It imparts meaning to countless moments and drives our social interactions with others.

As a foreigner, teaching others simple phrases in your native language is a quick way to establish common ground. In most cases, the starting point of this teaching is how to pick up on others. However, during this teaching process, it seems like we are merely practicing for the real events; the meanings of the words themselves are set aside.

As a director, I got the chance to intervene the performance through making this film. For male actors, such practice for potential future conversations was supposed to feel naturally; but with my intervention, they began to feel awkward and uncomfortable. Female performers, on the other hand, exchanged reassuring smiles. Under this conscious influence, the inherently meaningless dialogue practice generates more possibilities.
