Whispers of the Sea

陆声回到家乡，想再看看父亲去世的那片湖，却在途中偶遇了旧识杨安。回忆与梦境交织于陆声的脑海中，他发现一切似乎都没有改变，大海仍然那么的遥远。

Lu Sheng returns to his hometown, revisiting the lake where his father passed away. Along the journey, he encounters an old acquaintance, Yang An. Memories and dreams intertwine in Lu Sheng’s mind. He finds that everything seems unchanged. The sea remains as distant as ever.

肖轶凡，毕业于纽约大学帝势艺术学院电影专业硕士（MFA）。他创作了多部短片，并以摄影、灯光、调色等身份参与多部影片制作。

Yifan Xiao is a filmmaker and Graduate Film MFA candidate at NYU Tisch. His work spans directing and cinematography, along with experience as a gaffer and colorist. 

回到家乡，我见了我的老朋友们。大家似乎都在现实中挣扎着，过着一眼望不到尽头的生活，而我感觉与朋友，父母的关系都无法回到从前。年少的时候我们每个人都认为自己是独特的，但是慢慢的我们才发现，在某些更大的事物，像是大海面前，其实我们都差不多。回忆总是特别美好，似乎回到过去就能解决一切问题。在这样割裂的生活中，我想关注个体的遭遇，他们的回忆和梦。

After returning to my hometown, I met my old friends. Everyone seemed to be struggling in the harsh reality, living lives without clear direction. I felt that my relationships with my friends and parents could never go back to how they were before. When we were young, we all thought we were unique, but as we grew older, we realized that in the face of some larger forces, like the sea, we’re all pretty much the same. Sometimes, memories seem ideal in imagination, as if going back to the past could solve all problems. In such a fragmented life, I want to focus on individuals’ experiences, their memories and dreams.
