1/3600000是一部16分钟的带有实验色彩的科幻短片。

在未来的2051年,一场人们从未见识过的虫灾让整个世界深陷泥沼,“虫子”成为他们最大的敌人。为此人类制造了3600000台名为“清洁工”的仿生机器人与害虫抗衡,自己却消失在夜色之中。

我们的主角正是这3600000台“清洁工”的其中之一。在散发着久效磷气味的虫子的尸体之间,她发现了一只被人遗落的VR眼镜——不知受到了谁的感召,她从日复一日的杀虫生活中挣脱出来,得以一瞥人类为自己铸造的的梦幻世界……

1/3600000 (One in Three Million, Six Hundred Thousand)  is a 16-minute sci-fi short film with a strong influence from experimental cinema.

In 2051, an insect plague the world has never seen falls upon the human race. “Bugs” have become the biggest enemies to humans, that they manufactured 3600000 “cleaners”, a type of intelligent humanoids, to fight against the pest. Leaving the heritage behind, they disappeared into the deep night.

Among the remains of insects and the smell of monocrotophos, one of the “cleaners” found a pair of VR glasses. Under the mysterious summoning, she broke away from the never-ending routine of killing, and cast a glimpse into the virtual dreamland human have built for themselves.

After graduating from China Film Archive in M.A. Film Studies, Isa Wang has been working as a writer and a journalist.

Director’s Statement

1/3600000 is a story about the future, engaging multiple sci-fi elements and sub-genres such as “post apocalypse” or “virtual reality”. However, if one takes a closer look at its core beneath the surreal shell, 1/3600000 is a modern story about the current society we all live in-it’s about the constant struggles we have between our two identities- “survivors” under the existing rules of modern society, or “individuals” with their own dreams and pursues.

本片借此作为外部环境,希望去呈现青春期同性意识觉醒时的一种矛盾状态。故事起始于两位少女的离别迫近,她们一起长大,形影不离。离别的讯号,好像刺破了她们的伊甸,之前长久的安稳的日子即将一去不返。她俩的关系紧迫起来,友谊产生了裂纹。离别作为外部刺激,引发了她们情感意识、性意识的觉醒,纯真懵懂中的近似于爱情的暧昧使人不安起来。可少年时期含混的感情总是无法言明,只能别扭着消耗掉仅有的时光。这是一种独属于少年人的无助和深情。

Synopsis

In the year 2008, Ann and Nianci are good friends, growing up together in a small town in southern China.

When the plum-rain season arrives, Nianci’s mother comes and takes her to the city faraway. Ann sees the departure of her friend as betrayal, however, she could not make Nianci stay.

Angry as she is, Ann finds that she could scarcely bear the absence of Nianci, that hidden affection has developed. In the meantime, her friend seems to penetrate her feeling.

Wu Junhao, who grew up in a small town in northeast China, graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Film Production from Zhejiang University of Media and Communication in 2011. The lost young filmmaker focuses on the spiritual dilemma of individuals and tries to present the unspeakable vague emotions and relationships with images.

Director’s Statement

The story takes place in a small southern town in 2008, a year which seems to be memorable for many people. The world seems to expand and liven up overnight. In retrospect, the confusion and lack of sense of belonging caused by the sudden loss of small world still can be evoked.

In this background, the film hopes to present a contradiction when homosexuality awakens in adolescence. The story begins with the impending departure of two young girls who grow up together and follow like a shadow. The departure seems to destroy their Eden: the lasting and stable days before will be gone forever. Their relationship becomes strained and their friendship begins to crack. Departure stimulates the awakening of their emotional consciousness and sexual consciousness; the ambiguous love in their innocence made them uneasy. Always unspeakable, teenage vague emotions can only awkwardly consume all the time they have. This is a kind of helplessness and deep emotion that only belongs to young people.

我不喜欢被自己的性别所定义。男性与女性的界限对我来说一直都不够明确与清晰,它是模糊的,流动的。这部短片讲的是性别认知,但我更想说这是一部谈论“美”的片子。片子的题材,环境和时代并非是不可取代的,只是我选择了我熟悉的并感兴趣的主题进行探索。我身边有一群人,他们很多元,在性别和身份的表达上又是那样的多面。我从他们身上获取灵感提取出更丰富、更生动、更多义的材料以供我加工完成一次关于“谈论美”的尝试。

Ou Yuan hopes that his new friend Xu Duo can join him to watch the once-in-a-decade solar eclipse. Director’s Statement

I’ve never really liked being defined by gender. Sometimes I feel like a man, and sometimes I feel like a woman. The boundaries between the two genders have never been clear enough in my mind. To me, it’s fuzzy and fluid. The film is about gender identity, but I would like to say it is more about “beauty.” Its subject matter, environment, and era are not irreplaceable. It’s just that I chose the elements that I am more familiar with and interested in exploring. I extracted materials from people around me. They’re diverse and fluid in identity expression. For me, they are the source of my exploration of “beauty” that goes beyond the surface. It is a kind of brave beauty that comes from the courage to be oneself.

Director Biography

Yuchen Wang, a director and screenwriter, was born in 1994. Currently living and working in Shanghai. He “became neighbors” with movies in 2000 and grew up in a video store. Owing to his increasingly strong desire for creation and physiological needs, he began to make contact with the outside world and create visuals in 2013. His works have been selected for the Experimental section of China Independent Film Festival, Drama section of Beijing Independent Film Festival, Cutting Edge Film Festival, etc. In 2016 he won the jury’s nomination award at New Star Art Festival and held “Shanghai Gangda: Yuchen Wang’s visual exhibition” at the Art Museum of Nanjing University of the Arts. In 2017 he took part in the “Flooding Screen, Manual Labor” group exhibition in the same venue and was invited to participate in the group exhibition “China’s New Image: New Attitudes since 2010” as well as the Beijing International Short Film Festival in 2018. He directed the immersive outdoor music concert of the Wild Cooperative in 2020 and the band Dirty Fingers’ “The Story of the Canal” short film in 2021. His works have been shown by invite at academic exchanges and screenings of many art institutions.

Director’s Statement

The memory of first love is mostly about emotional purity and has no connection with gender, occupation, or even one’s looks. People’s yearning for love urges the so-called sense of “the first time,” the right to interpret which has for many years been the discourse logic of the patriarchy. In eighteen minutes, although short, this film tries to uphold a kind of “first love” that breaks the monopoly of the discourse.

This is a documentary-style animation. I transformed my experience of growing up into figurative objects; I believe some of those familiar elements can also evoke the audiences’ memories of their childhood. 这是一部十几分钟的短片,在创作之初我只是想表达一种情绪,这种情绪确确实实来自于我自己——在2019年清明的时候心血来潮去了北京的一处公墓,快十年没哭的我不知为何就在那里哭了出来。而从剧本故事来讲,这是个没有强烈冲突的电影,和拍摄初衷一样希望表达情绪,剧本大致有两条线,一条是十分具体的线,小宇外婆去世然后到公墓祭奠,另一条是小宇的生活情感线,从落魄到重燃希望,两条线是交织关系,皆集中于人物身上。从结果来看,两条线都完成得不好,剪辑时我仍然着重于情绪表达,模糊了故事线,希望观者能体会到影片的情绪而非故事本身。

Director’s Statement

This is a short film of more than ten minutes. At the beginning of creation, I just wanted to express a kind of emotion which comes from myself—I went to a cemetery in Beijing on a whim during the Tomb Sweeping Day in 2019, I didn’t cry for nearly a decade, but for some reason I cried there. In terms of the script and the story, this is a film without a strong conflict, and the original intention of the film is to express a kind of an emotion. The script roughly has two lines: one is very specific line in which the grandma dies and Xiaoyu goes to the cemetery memorial, the other is the line of Xiaoyu’s life and emotions, from abasement to rekindling of hope. They are intertwined and both focus on the characters. However, the two lines are not completed well. During editing, I still focused on the emotional expression and blurred the story line, hoping that the audience could feel the emotion of the film rather than the story itself.

拍摄本片的想法源自于我的一位女同性恋朋友的亲身经历。虽然加入了法国国籍并在法国和女朋友过着幸福的生活,但是身在中国的父母一直希望她可以结婚生子,像大部分普通人一样,组建一个家庭。为了让父母安心,她找到了一个男同性恋者进行一场形式婚礼。此外,出于对孩子的喜爱,二人达成协议生育一个孩子并共同抚养他长大。然而,在做出这个决定的过程中,二人经历了与各自同性伴侣的情感矛盾,同时,对于这个由形式婚姻而组建的特殊家庭、对于将会到来的这个孩子,他们对未来有些担忧,但又充满了希望。

Zhao Wei, born in Qingdao, China, on 22 March 1985, graduated from the University of Paris 8 in 2020 with a master’s degree in filmology, majoring in film aesthetics, theory and documentation.Zhao is currently working as an independent filmmaker in Paris. In 2018, the short film Live won the Special Prize of the Prix Serge Daney film festival and projected in the Cinémathèque Française. In 2020, the short film The Failed Film was shortlisted in the Prix Serge Daney film festival.

Director’s Statement

The idea for this film came from the personal experience of my lesbian friend. Although she has acquired French nationality and lives happily with her girlfriend in France, her parents in China always wanted her to get married, have children and start a family like most people. In order to reassure her parents, she found a gay man who agreed on a marriage of convenience and, furthermore, out of their shared fondness for children , they agreed to have one child and raise her/him together. However, in the process of making this decision, they both experienced conflicts with their partners and at the same time were somewhat worried about this particular family formed by a marriage of convenience and the growth of their future child, but more than that, they were hopeful for the future.

游移在纪录片和都市规划之间。台湾硕士毕业之后,在台北都市规划圈工作了几年,因为对非虚构影像创作有着浓厚兴趣,于2017年到纽约市立大学Hunter College攻读媒体创作艺术硕士。自2020年毕业回台,想继续创作跟自己与土地有关的故事。此作品为导演的毕业制作。他认为,通过讲述自己的经历和想法并用电影讲述人们的生活,可以帮助他了解人们如何看待个人与社会之间的关系,以及如何构建看待这个世界的视点。

导演阐述

这部片对我而言,是一趟治疗的过程,治疗从小对父亲无以名状的害怕。虽然我无法说最终是否被“治愈”了,但因为面对的问题已经够难了,勇气削弱一些过去的害怕,对父亲也就能更从容地面对了。

关于身分认同的议题,在纪录片的世界里,其实是在平常不过的了,所以与其说这部片是为了别人而拍,更确切地说是为“自己”而拍,把自己最不想直接面对的话题,当做进攻和抵御的工具,在每次拍摄和回头剪辑的过程中,不断去冲撞过去自己所画下的舒适圈。

对父亲的情感终究是复杂的,无法用言语表达的部分很多,所以更多时候只是化作了一些生活里很枝微末节的动作和对话。影片中的只是一部分,却也希望能够将自己的感受,传达给观者。

Jay Chieh-Chun Lee is a film/video maker and urban planner from Taipei, Taiwan. After studying in non-fiction filmmaking in New York City for several years, he is now back to his homeland—Taipei to pursue his career. His approach to art starts from his personal experience and the stories that surround him, with an aim to arrive at a broader social context. He believes that by narrating his own experiences and thoughts and making films that tell stories of people, he can understand how we perceive the relationship between self and society and how we construct our point of view seeing this world.

Director’s Statement

I looked to filmmaking as a healing process to deal with the barrier caused by the fear I felt towards my father. The courage I gained in the process though did not help us fully identify with each other, still diminished my fear of my father.

I made this film not aiming for the audience but mainly for myself. The hardest topic I put in between the conversation with my father and me became a tool that helped myself breakthrough my comfort zone. The feelings for him were perplexing and nuanced. It was a mixture of love, fear, respect, impatience, empathy, and many other emotions. To me, it was not easy to articulate this feeling with words and I could only express it through other sensorial experience. So I filmed our everyday life scenes that include daily interactions to build up what our relationship looked like. I hope the audience can actively perceive what I was feeling by observing events without explanation.

导演介绍

詹卢卡·佐帕于1969年5月1日出生于米兰,1994年起移居到亚洲生活。他是一名演员、作家、导演与制片人。2017年在北京有了第一次表演经历之后,他去了李·斯特拉斯伯格戏剧电影学院-西好莱坞分校学习。回到中国之后,他参演了众多剧情长片、短片、和电视剧。2019年他导演并制作了自己的首部短片,《卢卡》。

导演阐述

《婧》讲述了一个孤独女人的故事,她在身心层面都经受了暴力。贫穷和缺乏家里人的支持使得她不得不抛弃在强奸中怀上的儿子。

影片通过讲述一个真实的故事,触碰了弃养、暴力、剥削及性别失衡等社会议题。我试图通过影片传递许多女性在生活中不得不面对的无助感,以及在很多时候被迫屈服于悲惨现实的无奈。婧只能在远离家乡的地方寻找希望,与此同时她每天都经受着劳动剥削,又被男人的承诺背叛。在与世隔绝的绝望心理中,婧希望能夺回她曾经最重要的东西,然而她的调查却将她带向了与残酷现实相对的境地……

Director Biography

Gianluca Zoppa was born in Milan on May 1st, 1969, and lives in Asia since 1994. He is an actor, writer, director, and producer. After his first acting experience in Beijing in 2017, he studied at Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute – West Hollywood. Returned to China, he was involved in numerous feature films, shorts and TV series. In 2019, he produced and directed his first short-film, “Luca”.

Director’s Statement

Jing is the story of a lonely woman, a victim of physical and psychological violence. Poverty and lack of family support forced the young woman to abandon her son, who was conceived in rape. The film tells a real story by embracing and crossing over common societal issues such as abandonment, violence, exploitation and gender inequalities throughout the narrative. I wanted to stage the feeling of helplessness that many women have to face in their life, forced, more often than not, to succumb to the oppression of an unscrupulous reality. Jing is forced to seek hope far from her homeland, exploited daily by the law of profit and betrayed by a man’s promises. In her total psychological isolation, Jing wishes to take back the most important thing from her past. Her research, however, leads her to collide with a cruel reality.

故事梗概


靠租赁售卖DVD为⽣的阿政,在⾃⼰店⾥重逢了他念念不忘的前任阿诚,两⼈的激情再次燃起,阿诚却沉浸在对另⼀个⼈的深深思念中,早已不记得阿政是何⼈。阿政痛⽽离开,对阿诚的思念让他魂不守舍,恍惚间以为阿诚来店⾥找⾃⼰,甚⾄邀请⾃⼰与他共舞。⽽此时的阿诚,在常去的舞厅依稀记起和阿政的点滴,奈何他对阿政所有的感情,也仅⽌于此。时间⼀天天过去,阿政终于从幻想中醒来,接受了阿诚不爱他的事实。

曾⼦⼀,1995年出⽣于⼴东深圳。
本科毕业于北京⼯业⼤学⼴告系,中国传媒⼤学电视编导系(辅修),研究⽣就读于法国法国国⽴⼯艺学院。毕业后从事影视⼴告编导⼯作⾄今。作品乐于探索少数群体的喜怒哀乐。

导演阐述

表达纯粹的情感感受,是我创作这部短⽚的初衷。因此,我抛弃了戏剧性的情节结构,撇去了外部的现实和社会环境,⽽以⼈物和他们的情感关系作为影⽚的基点和推进动⼒,全⽚注重描写陷⼊爱时⼈的⼼理感受与变化。阿政和阿诚像城市⾥许多⼈的缩影、⼀个朦胧的意象、⼀种模糊的身份背景,意为专⼀表现他们在相爱时的热烈和思念时的⽆所适从——两种我们⼏乎都会经历的感受。视听语⾔上,我使⽤⼿持摄影、旁⽩、声画分离等⼿法,将⼈的感受凸显到极致。我期望这部⽚⼦能够唤醒观众关于爱的感受和记忆。

Synopsis


Living on a DVD shop, Ah Zheng re-encounters his memorable ex-boyfriend, Ah Cheng, and their passion for each other is evoked again. However, Ah Cheng fails to recognize Ah Zheng and already has someone else. Ah Zheng leaves with grief, but he misses Ah Cheng so much that he imagines Ah Cheng coming to his shop and inviting him to dance together. Meanwhile in the ballroom where they used to visit, Ah Cheng recalls the days with Ah Zheng, but his feeling for Ah Zheng does not increase. Ah Zheng gradually accept the fact that Ah Cheng does not love him anymore.

Director Biography


Ziyi Zheng was born and grew up in Shenzhen. He has graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Advertisement from Beijing University of Technology, and with a master’s degree from Conservatoire national des arts et métiers. He has since been directing films, television, and advertisements. His works focus on exploring individual emotions and experiences of the minorities.

Director’s Statement


My original intention to create this short film is to express pure emotions. Therefore, I abandon the dramatic structure, leave aside the external reality and social environment, while base and develop the film on characters’ emotional relationship, focusing on psychological feelings and changes when people fall in love. Ah Zheng and Ah Cheng are like the epitome of many urban people, an obscured image and a vague identity background. The film expresses their enthusiasm when they are in love and their confusion when they are lovesick—two feelings that almost all of us experienced. In terms of film language, I employ hand-held shot, voiceover, separation of sound and image, and other techniques to make it extremely subjective. I hope this film can awaken the audience’s feelings and memories about love.
